Agniveers Aditya Kumar, Kundan Kumar, Vinod Yadav Killed in Arunachal Flash Floods

Three Indian Army Agniveers who went missing following flash floods and cloudbursts in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley on August 14 have been officially declared dead.
The deceased soldiers have been identified as Agniveer Aditya Kumar, Agniveer Kundan Kumar and Agniveer Vinod Yadav. They were swept away after heavy monsoon rains triggered severe landslides and washed away military shelters in the high-altitude and rugged border region.
Following the incident, the Indian Army launched extensive search and rescue operations despite challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions. After a prolonged search, the identities of the missing personnel were confirmed through DNA analysis.
The Army subsequently handed over the mortal remains of the three soldiers to their respective families with full military honours.
The Eastern Command of the Indian Army, led by Lieutenant General V.M.B. Krishnan, expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and paid tribute to the soldiers for their sacrifice in the line of duty.
The deaths highlight the severe risks faced by Army personnel deployed in remote, high-altitude areas of Arunachal Pradesh, where extreme weather, landslides and flash floods can pose significant operational challenges.
