Gujarat Shocker: 57-Year-Old Son Allegedly Kills 92-Year-Old Father In Bharuch, Pours Petrol And Sets Him On Fire

Bharuch Crime: 92-Year-Old Father Killed In Ikhar Village Of Bharuch District

BHARUCH:In a shocking incident from Ikhar village in Bharuch district, Gujarat, a 92-year-old father was allegedly murdered by his 57-year-old son.

According to police, the accused son allegedly poured petrol on his elderly father and set him on fire, leading to the father’s death due to severe burn injuries.

The 57-year-old accused has been arrested by Bharuch police and a case has been registered.

Alleged Motive:

Police investigation so far suggests the crime was not over property or money dispute within the family, but over the father’s habit of asking for loans/borrowing money in the village.

The son allegedly feared that this was bringing bad name and defamation to the family in the village. Police said this fear of social humiliation may have led to the extreme step.

Locals in Ikhar village have expressed shock over the incident, saying the elderly man was known to borrow small amounts from villagers.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem and are investigating further. Further details on how the petrol was procured and whether others were involved are being probed.

The incident has once again raised concerns over elder abuse and family violence in rural areas, with social workers calling for intervention and support systems for the elderly living with dependent family members
