LPG Rule Change: Biometric Aadhaar Authentication Required From October 1
LPG Aadhaar Authentication Made Mandatory for Subsidised Refills From October 1
India’s Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) will become mandatory from October 1, 2026, for domestic LPG consumers who want to book refills at the regulated retail selling price with the applicable subsidy.
According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, around 27.43 crore active LPG consumers — 89.9% of the total — have already completed Aadhaar authentication.
Consumers who have already completed the authentication process do not need to take any further action and can continue booking LPG refills as usual.
For consumers who have not yet completed BAA, access to subsidised refills at the regulated retail selling price will be enabled after authentication is completed.
The authentication process can be completed through three channels:
During LPG refill delivery
At the LPG distributor’s showroom
Through the mobile apps of the three public-sector oil marketing companies (OMCs)
