Naseeruddin Shah Meets CJP Founder Abhijeet Dipke Amid Electoral Roll Row

Naseeruddin Shah Joins CJP Protest in Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti, Meets Abhijeet Dipke

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah joined the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in Mumbai on Friday, October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. Shah met CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke as the organisation staged an agitation over the electoral-roll controversy and demanded accountability from the Election Commission.

The protest was held around Shivaji Park and focused on CJP's demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The group has also raised concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the functioning of the Election Commission.

Dipke shared a video of his meeting with Shah on social media, expressing surprise at the actor's presence. Shah's participation comes amid wider public attention surrounding the CJP-led agitation

The protest had been announced as part of a nationwide campaign by CJP, with Dipke saying the agitation would subsequently be taken to other parts of the country and eventually to Delhi. Mumbai Police had earlier denied permission for the planned gathering at Shivaji Park, citing applicable restrictions, but the protest went ahead.

The Election Commission has rejected suggestions of a split within the three-member panel and has maintained that decisions, including those related to the SIR exercise, were taken unanimously.
