3.3-Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Hingoli’s Aundha Nagnath Area
A mild earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale was recorded in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district on Saturday morning, October 3, with tremors felt in the Gadhala area of Aundha Nagnath taluka.
According to the district disaster management authorities, the earthquake was recorded at around 7:46 am. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) recorded the event at a depth of approximately 7 km, with coordinates of 19.623°N and 77.163°E.
The tremor was accompanied by a rumbling sound and caused brief concern among residents in the affected areas. However, no casualties or property damage have been reported so far.
The earthquake comes amid continuing seismic activity in Hingoli district, where tremors have been reported intermittently in areas including Aundha Nagnath, Kalamnuri, Vasmat and Hingoli. Authorities have advised residents to remain alert and not panic.
Importantly, the NCS earthquake catalogue also recorded a stronger 4.5-magnitude earthquake in Hingoli at 9:43 am, roughly two hours after the 3.3-magnitude tremor. Officials said the later tremor also caused concern, but no casualties or major damage were reported.
Residents have been advised to avoid damaged structures, follow official instructions and refrain from spreading unverified information following the tremors.
