Pune Police Arrest Bigg Boss Marathi Ex-Contestant Divya Shinde in Assault Case

Pune: Bigg Boss Marathi ex-contestant and social media influencer Divya Shinde has been arrested by Pune Police in connection with an alleged assault and extortion case involving a retired government medical officer. 

According to the complaint filed by Dr Vidyadhar Gaikwad, a 65-year-old retired medical officer, Shinde and several others allegedly went to his residence in Pune and demanded ₹5 lakh. The complainant alleged that he was assaulted with objects including a belt and wooden sticks after the demand was not met. 

The dispute reportedly relates to the Kala Avishkar Mahotsav, an event associated with the Karunadeep Foundation. According to the FIR, Shinde allegedly claimed that her presence helped promote the event and subsequently demanded money. The complaint further alleges that ₹50,000 was transferred to her through Google Pay, while the demand for the remaining amount continued. 

Police have registered a case against Shinde and other accused under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including allegations relating to causing hurt, criminal intimidation, extortion and attempt to murder. Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from the residential complex. 

Following her arrest, Shinde was produced before a court. Reports on September 27 said she was remanded to police custody until September 30 as investigators continued their probe. 

Shinde, who is also known by the social-media name “Sarkar,” participated in Bigg Boss Marathi Season 6 and was eliminated from the show earlier this year. The allegations remain subject to investigation and court proceedings.
