Sugar Export Ban : Just a few days ago, Prime Minister Modi appealed to people not to buy gold and to use petrol-diesel sparingly. Immediately after his appeal, major fluctuations were seen in the stock market and bullion market. Amid this, the central government has now taken another major decision. It will come into effect across the country from today.
To control domestic sugar supply and prices, the central government has imposed an immediate ban on sugar exports (Sugar Export Ban). The ban will remain in place until 30 September 2026 or until further orders, and this is likely to trigger major movements in the global sugar market.
