Elon Musk Faces Congressional Scrutiny Over Starlink Operations In Ukraine, Says US Senator
US Senator Ruben Gallego has warned billionaire Elon Musk that he will face questions over changes to Starlink satellite internet services in Ukraine, accusing the tech entrepreneur of interfering in a global conflict.
In a strongly worded post on X, Gallego said Musk must explain the circumstances surrounding changes to Starlink's operations in Ukraine and their potential impact on the country's military efforts.
“Elon Musk has Ukrainian blood on his hands. He needs to come in and explain what the hell happened when he altered a global conflict with the flick of a switch. See you in January, Elon Musk,” Gallego wrote.
Musk has faced criticism over his control of Starlink, a satellite communications network that has played a crucial role in maintaining internet connectivity in Ukraine amid Russia's ongoing invasion.
The controversy has renewed concerns over the influence of privately controlled technology and communications infrastructure during armed conflicts, particularly when military operations depend on such services.
Gallego's remarks indicate the possibility of congressional scrutiny of Musk's decisions concerning Starlink and the network's role in Ukraine. The senator has signalled that he expects Musk to answer questions about the matter in January.
