Salem Tantrik Arrested for Allegedly Filming Women, Minor Girls During Rituals

Salem, Tamil Nadu: A 50-year-old self-styled tantrik has been arrested in Salem district of Tamil Nadu for allegedly sexually exploiting women and minor girls and secretly recording them during the guise of tantric rituals, police said.

The accused, identified as Vijayraja, reportedly operated a tantra centre near Vazhapadi. According to the police investigation, he allegedly used hidden cameras to record women and schoolgirls who visited the centre for puja and other rituals. The videos were allegedly sold through the dark web.

Police reportedly recovered a laptop containing more than 50 videos involving women and schoolgirls. Investigators also suspect that some victims were given allegedly spiked water or prasad to make them unconscious before they were filmed.

The case came to light after Vijayraja allegedly attempted to molest a schoolgirl who had visited the centre while collecting donations for Vinayaka Chaturthi. The girl reportedly informed her family, following which local residents caught the accused and handed him over to the Vazhapadi police.

During the investigation, police reportedly learned that Vijayraja had previously worked at a utensil factory. After the factory closed, he allegedly began presenting himself as a baba and started operating the tantra centre.

Police said the accused admitted during interrogation that a website allegedly paid him for the videos. His mobile phone, laptop and other digital devices have been seized for forensic examination.

lnvestigators are now examining the digital evidence and probing whether other individuals or an organised network were involved in recording, distributing or selling the alleged videos.The investigation is ongoing.
