MUMBAI, July 26, 2026.Panic gripped commuters on Saturday after 5 loud, blast-like soundswere heard at Vile Parle railway station on the Mumbai local train network.

What Actually Happened?.

Initial fears of an explosion spread quickly among passengers at the station. However, railway officials later clarified the cause.

According to information received, the loud sounds were caused after a bird came in contact with the overhead electric wire. This led to a flashover, which produced sounds similar to explosions.

A railway official said, "There was no blast. The noise was due to a bird hitting the OHE line, causing a flashover."

Railway Administration Responds

The railway administration has taken noteof the incident and an investigation has been launched to check for any damage to the overhead equipment.

Train services were briefly affected but were later resumed as normal. No injuries or damage to property have been reported.

Officials urged passengers not to panic and said safety protocols are being followed.
