TEHRAN: Conflicting reports continue to circulate about the health of Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, who has not made any public appearance since succeeding his father Ali Khamenei in March 2026.

Iranian officials version:
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpour said he suffered only superficial injuries to the face, head and legs with no amputation
Protocol chief Mazaher Hosseini said injuries were to kneecap and lower back from blast wave, and "he is in full health" now Iran has denied claims of treatment in Russia
WHY HE HASN'T APPEARED PUBLICLY:
Officials say it's for security reasons amid fears of assassination. Communications are reportedly being passed by hand through couriers.
He has only issued written statements read by state TV.
The injuries are said to be from US-Israeli strikes on Feb 28 that killed his father, former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. His wife and son were also reportedly killed.
None of the injury claims have been independently verified by international agencies. Iran calls foreign reports "false claims" aimed at portraying leadership as weak.
