Trump Warns: “I’ll Become Mr. Veto” If Democrats Win Nov 3 Midterms Signals Veto Blockade And Deal-Making

WASHINGTON: Donald Trump warns that if Democrats win the upcoming midterm elections, he will become “Mr. Veto.”

 His remark signals a potentially confrontational relationship with a Democrat-controlled Congress, should Republicans lose control of the midterms.

What Happened:

In NY Post interview, asked how he’d deal with Democrat-controlled Congress, Trump: “I guess I’ll become Mr. Veto. I’m not going to let them ruin it.”

 Continued: “They’ll be sending stuff up. You veto it. And eventually, after a month or two of getting all vetoed, you know, it’s just waste, they come over and make a deal.” Also version: “I’ll be vetoing, vetoing.

 Marks rare acknowledgment that Republicans may lose, even as he holds rallies. Also agreed with Elon Musk warning that if Dems sweep, country could be “maybe forever destroyed”  claims Dems want to add Puerto Rico & DC as states, expand Supreme Court, eliminate filibuster.

What It Means:

If Dems take House, they get budgeting leverage, legislative priorities, oversight & investigation powers. If Senate too, can block nominees including Supreme Court justices.

 But President retains veto + broad executive authority over trade, foreign policy, federal bureaucracy. White House can push via national emergency declarations on tariffs  Congress can vote to end, but Trump can veto that, requiring 2/3 override.

So gridlock expected first months, then forced compromise.

Other Clip: In same podcast, Trump said he’d “love to run again if I had the chance, but the language is very exacting,” referring to 22nd Amendment forbidding third term.
