Pune CP, DCP And Senior PI Served Notice After Viral Video Of Suspects On Police Car

The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of allegations that Pune Police paraded murder suspects on the bonnet of a police vehicle.According to the Commission, widely circulated videos show suspects in a murder case being made to sit on the bonnet of a police vehicle and paraded publicly.

In a strongly worded 10-page order passed by the full bench, MSHRC observed that if the videos are found to be genuine after investigation, it amounts to "an inhuman and barbaric act". The Commission said such an incident would be "certainly shameful for an otherwise well-governed and well-administered state like Maharashtra".

DCP Zone-2 Milind Mohite

Senior PI Mansing Patil, Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station

MSHRC has also ordered Personal Affidavits from the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra and the Director General of Police explaining the state government's role and action taken after the incident.

Fact-Finding Probe Ordered:

The Commission has further directed its independent investigation team to conduct a fact-finding inquiry into the matter.The order has raised serious questions over the alleged conduct of police. If the video is verified, strict action for violation of human rights is likely against the concerned police personnel.
