Rare Medical Case in Delhi: Uterus & Fallopian Tube-Like Structures Found in Male Patient*
NEW DELHI: In a rare medical case, a 26-year-old man who approached RG Hospitals in Rajouri Garden, Delhi for infertility treatment was found to have a uterus and fallopian-tube-like structures inside his body.
According to hospital sources, the man had come for a routine evaluation for infertility. During detailed examination and scans, doctors discovered internal female reproductive structures, indicating a rare congenital condition that had remained undiagnosed until adulthood.
The condition is suspected to be a form of Disorder of Sex Development (DSD), where a person’s internal reproductive anatomy does not match their external appearance. The patient had male external genitalia but internally had remnants of female reproductive organs.
Doctors said such conditions occur due to chromosomal and hormonal variations during fetal development and often go undetected for years until issues like infertility arise.
The medical team is now conducting further hormonal and genetic evaluations to determine the line of treatment and counselling. The hospital stated that the patient is stable and is being provided with necessary medical and psychological support.
