Sridevi’s Chennai Property Row: Madras High Court Rejects Suit Over 4.77-Acre Land

Late actress Sridevi’s 4.77-acre property on Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR) has been at the centre of a legal dispute involving her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
The property was purchased by Sridevi in 1988. In 2025, M.C. Sivakami, M.C. Natarajan and their mother Chandrabhanu approached the Chengalpattu court, claiming rights over the land and seeking to challenge sale deeds through which Sridevi and her sister had acquired the property.
Boney Kapoor and his daughters subsequently approached the Madras High Court, challenging the lower court's refusal to reject the suit. In May 2026, Justice T.V. Thamilselvi allowed their plea and ordered rejection of the plaint. The court held that the claim was legally unsustainable and barred by limitation
The case has attracted attention because the property has remained associated with Sridevi’s family for decades. The latest High Court order marks a significant development in the long-running dispute over the Chennai land.
