‘80% of Indians Are Non-Vegetarian’: Rahul Gandhi Questions Vegetarian Menu at BRICS Dinner

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has taken a swipe at the Narendra Modi-led central government over the reported vegetarian menu served at the BRICS Summit gala dinner in New Delhi.
Taking to X on Sunday, Gandhi highlighted India’s diverse food preferences and said, “For the record: 80% of Indians are non-vegetarian.” He also praised Indian non-vegetarian cuisine, adding that it is “delicious.”
Gandhi accompanied his post with a picture of chole bhature, a popular North Indian dish, and added a personal reference to his sister’s preparation of the delicacy.
His remarks came amid discussions over the menu served to leaders and dignitaries attending the BRICS Summit in Delhi. The post quickly drew attention online, with the Congress leader using the occasion to raise questions about food choices and representation at a major international gathering.
The BRICS Summit brought together leaders and senior representatives from member countries for discussions on global affairs, trade, economic cooperation and other strategic issues.
