Pezeshkian’s India Visit ‘No Less Than a Miracle’, Says Shia Board Leader

India Should Stand With Old Friend Iran, Says Shia Board Leader Yasoob Abbas

All India Shia Personal Law Board General Secretary Maulana Yasoob Abbas on Friday praised the enduring diplomatic relationship between India and Iran, describing Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to New Delhi for the BRICS summit as a significant demonstration of the strength of bilateral ties.

Abbas said the Iranian president’s presence in India was particularly important given the intense geopolitical tensions and pressure facing Tehran. He described the visit as an extraordinary diplomatic development and a reflection of the resilience of the India-Iran partnership.

Speaking to ANI, Abbas urged the Indian government to stand firmly with Iran, referring to the two countries as longstanding friends.

“The Indian government should stand with its old friend, Iran, face to face,” Abbas said, while commenting on the regional situation and Iran’s diplomatic position.

He further described Pezeshkian’s participation in the BRICS summit as “no less than a miracle” given the circumstances surrounding Iran.

Pezeshkian’s presence at the BRICS gathering has also drawn attention to India’s longstanding engagement with Tehran, which includes cooperation in areas such as trade, energy and connectivity.
