PM Modi Gifts Putin Russian Translation of Thirukkural in Delhi
Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a Russian translation of the Thirukkural, the ancient Tamil classic, during their meeting in Delhi.
The gesture highlighted India’s rich literary heritage and the cultural ties between India and Russia. The Thirukkural, attributed to the Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar, is regarded as one of Tamil literature’s most influential works, covering themes such as virtue, ethics, governance, love and human values.
Presenting the Russian-language edition to Putin also underscored the effort to make India’s classical literature accessible to international audiences.
