"Rahul Gandhi Brings Injured Student Before Media, Alleges Delhi Police Used Pellet Guns On NEET Protesters".

THE REPORT:

New Delhi:Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Friday brought a student injured during the NEET protest at Jantar Mantar before the media and alleged that Delhi Police fired pellet guns to disperse protesters.

WHAT HAPPENED:

Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference with the student who was part of the Cockroach Janta Party  CJP's 'Chalo Sansad' march demanding resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak.The student showed injuries and claimed he was hit by pellets fired by Delhi Police while protesting peacefully near Parliament.

RAHUL GANDHI'S ALLEGATIONS:

"Students are being shot at for asking for justice. This is unacceptable in a democracy"  Rahul Gandhi said .He accused the government of "brutally suppressing" the voices of 22 lakh NEET aspirants.Gandhi demanded an independent inquiry into the police action and immediate medical treatment for all injured students.He also reiterated the demand for dissolution of NTA and resignation of the Education Minister.

HOSPITAL REPORT:

A hospital report cited by media earlier claimed "pellet shards stuck to skin" of protesters, which contradicted Delhi Police's statement that they exercised restraint and only used tear gas and lathi-charge to maintain law and order.Delhi Police has maintained that force was used only after protesters tried to breach barricades during the march to Parliament.

BACKGROUND:

The protests erupted after NEET UG 2026 exam was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of paper leak. The CBI is probing the case. The Supreme Court is also hearing petitions seeking NTA reforms and has asked the Centre for a report on shifting to computer-based testing.The 'Chalo Sansad' march led to clashes with injuries reported on both protester and police sides.

POLITICAL REACTION:

The incident has triggered fresh political heat ahead of the monsoon session. Opposition parties have called it an "attack on democracy and students", while the government says law and order was maintained.
