Tension at Jantar Mantar: CJP Protesters Clash With Police, Media Personnel Allegedly Assaulted".

New Delhi:The Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) 'Chalo Sansad' march turned violent on Monday as protesters clashed with security personnel in central Delhi, leading to lathi-charge, tear gas firing, and alleged attacks on media teams and police vehicles.

The protest was held on the opening day of Parliament's Monsoon Session, with thousands demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged NEET paper leaks.

What Happened:

Tension gripped areas around Jantar Mantar, Rail Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan and Janpath after sections of the crowd allegedly tried to breach police barricades and move towards the high-security Parliament complex. 

Police responded by firing tear gas shells near Shastri Bhawan and using batons to disperse protesters. Anti-riot vehicles were deployed at key locations as security forces attempted to prevent the march from advancing. 

According to eyewitnesses and videos, the protest quickly turned into a confrontation. Protesters alleged they were "pulled down by feet" and detained, while police said they acted to maintain law and order.

ABP Team & Police Vehicles Targeted:

Amid the chaos, reports emerged that media personnel were attacked and police vehicles were targeted by sections of protesters. ABP News and other channels carried ground reports showing scuffles between demonstrators and security forces.

Delhi Police denied claims of "sporadic use of violence" and said the protest was being handled professionally, urging citizens not to believe rumours. 

Background:

The CJP agitation has been ongoing at Jantar Mantar for weeks, gaining momentum after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital following a 20-day hunger strike. 

Wangchuk called the July 20 march a "second freedom movement" for education justice. CJP leaders have said they will continue the protest until their demands, including Pradhan's resignation, are met. 

Security & Reactions:

Delhi Police had sealed roads leading to Parliament, imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS, and closed several metro stations including Janpath, Patel Chowk, and Rajiv Chowk. 

Opposition leaders condemned the police action. LoP Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue in Rajya Sabha, saying "Thousands of children have gathered at Jantar Mantar. They have been lathi-charged. The government is trying to suppress them".
