"UK Armed Forces 'Ready 24/7' To Defend Nation After Iran Threatens RAF Bases Over US Bomber Flights"

THE REPORT.

London The UK government has said its Armed Forces are "ready to keep the United Kingdom safe from any kind of attacks" after lran's Revolutionary Guards warned that any base used to attack Iranian territory would be a "legitimate target".The warning came after PM Andy Burnham approved the US to use British bases like RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia for "defensive strikes" against Iran.

Iran's Warning:

Iranian officials said: “Any base used to invade Iranian territory is our legitimate target”. Reports also claimed the Royal Family was threatened and RAF bases were declared targets. Experts believe Iran's Khorramshahr-4 missiles could potentially reach parts of the UK if launched from northeast Iran with a lighter warhead, giving it a range of up to 4,000km. RAF Fairford is about 4,350km from Tehran.

UK Response: "Layered Defence"

A government spokesperson said:

“Our Armed Forces are ready to keep the United Kingdom safe from any kind of attacks, whether it’s on our soil or from abroad. The UK stands ready 24/7 to defend itself”.

This includes:

Layered air and missile defence by Royal Navy, Army and RAF .Type 45 destroyers the only UK ships capable of shooting down ballistic missiles.£790 million investment for new radars, sensors, DragonFire laser weapons and counter-drone systems .

The MoD said the UK's approach "remains the same – we are committed to defending our people, our interests and our allies, acting in accordance with international law and not getting drawn into the wider conflict".

Political Background:

Keir Starmer initially rejected US requests but later allowed US use of RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia for defensive operations.Andy Burnham, in his first major national security decision, has continued that policy. Some Labour MPs, Greens and Lib Dems argue the use of bases makes the UK "complicit in war crimes". The US has been conducting its 12th consecutive night of strikes on Iran. Donald Trump said he is "not finished yet".
