TEHRAN: Spokesman for Iran's armed forces Abolfazl Shekarchi said Wednesday that US President Donald Trump* and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are "child-eating and child-killing twins" heading toward their downfall.
In a statement carried by Iranian state media, Shekarchi warned the two leaders that they were on a "downward slope toward collapse" and that their threats and boasts would not rescue them from the "swamp of death" in which he said they were trapped.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States and Israel, following months of military confrontation and ongoing diplomatic efforts over Iran's nuclear program and regional influence.
Iran has regularly issued sharp rhetoric against Washington and Jerusalem through its military and political leadership. The latest statement follows similar warnings in recent weeks as the two sides have exchanged threats over future strikes and regional operations.
There was no immediate response from the White House or the Israeli Prime Minister's office to Shekarchi's comments
