New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin shared a car ride in Delhi ahead of the BRICS Summit, marking their fourth such journey together and highlighting the close ties between India and Russia.
The two leaders also held a 45-minute meeting to discuss bilateral relations and areas of cooperation between India and Russia. Their interaction came amid the BRICS Summit, where leaders are gathering to discuss major global and economic issues.
During the meeting, PM Modi presented Putin with a Russian-language edition of the Thirukkural, the ancient Tamil classic attributed to the poet-saint Thiruvalluvar.
The latest car ride has drawn attention as a symbol of the personal rapport between Modi and Putin. Their previous joint car journeys, including the widely noted ride in Bishkek, have often been seen as reflecting the warmth and informality in India-Russia diplomatic ties.
The meeting underscored New Delhi's continued emphasis on its longstanding strategic partnership with Moscow while maintaining engagement with other major global powers.
