Addressing supporters after the protest, Rahul Gandhi said the massive turnout showed that the issue resonated with citizens across the country.  "This agitation was for every Indian family. The government believed it could avoid accountability, but this time it will not be able to,"he said.He added that the protest was not against any individual, but in support of students seeking justice and accountability.

Sources said senior government representatives have acknowledged the concerns raised and are open to reviewing the demands put forth by the Congress and student groups. The Centre has not made any formal commitments yet, but has signalled willingness to hold talks.
