Gujarat FDCA Cracks Down on Food and Drug Violations, Cancels Licences of 50 Pharma Firms
The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) took extensive enforcement action across the state during August, cancelling the sales licences of 50 pharmaceutical companies over regulatory violations.
The department also ordered the closure of two drug manufacturing units after inspections uncovered serious irregularities.
In a parallel crackdown on food safety violations, authorities seized around 42,988 kg of suspected food products from different parts of Gujarat. The seized material was estimated to be worth approximately ₹93.47 lakh.
Officials said the action was aimed at preventing the sale and manufacture of unsafe or substandard food and medicines and ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations.
