Iran Says It Has Received Official US Response to Its Latest Peace Proposal

Tehran, September 30, 2026: Iran has announced a significant diplomatic development, saying it has received an official response from the United States to Tehran’s latest proposal aimed at ending the ongoing Middle East war.

Iranian officials said the US response was presented to President Masoud Pezeshkian by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during a Cabinet meeting. Tehran has not yet disclosed the contents of Washington’s response.

The development comes after indirect US-Iran negotiations resumed last week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, following months of conflict and diplomatic deadlock. Iran had put forward conditions for ending hostilities and addressing the crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

Among the publicly reported Iranian demands are an end to hostilities across the region, the unfreezing of Iranian assets held abroad, relief from oil-sector sanctions and the lifting of the US naval blockade. Some other conditions have reportedly not been made public.

President Trump had publicly rejected Iran's proposal earlier, but Tehran continued to await a formal response through mediators, including Qatar. The latest announcement indicates that diplomatic channels remain active despite continuing disagreements between Washington and Tehran.

Iranian President Pezeshkian said Tehran would continue efforts to bring an agreement to fruition while insisting that any deal should be based on a “win-win strategy.”

The contents of the US response could now become crucial to determining the next stage of the negotiations, particularly over the war, sanctions and the Strait of Hormuz.
