New Delhi: Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was forcibly removed on Saturday morning from the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protest site in Delhi, where he had been on a hunger strike for the past 20 days*.
WHAT HAPPENED:
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke criticised the police action, alleging that officers abused Wangchuk and dragged him away from the protest site.
Police have not yet responded to Dipke's allegations.
PROTEST TO CONTINUE:
Addressing the crowd at the site later, Dipke said the protest *will continue despite Wangchuk's removal.
He also announced that he would begin an indefinite hunger strike in place of Wangchuk.
The 20-day protest by CJP was focused on Wangchuk's demands, details of which were raised at the Delhi site.
