Iran Seizes Vessel Carrying 382,000 Litres of Smuggled Diesel, Arrests 11 Foreign Crew Members

Iranian border guards have seized a vessel allegedly carrying 382,000 litres of smuggled diesel and arrested 11 foreign crew members, according to a report by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB.

The vessel was intercepted during an operation targeting fuel smuggling, authorities said. The 11 foreign nationals on board were taken into custody following the seizure.

Fuel smuggling remains a significant issue in Iran, where heavily subsidised domestic fuel prices have created incentives for illegal trade across the country’s borders.
