US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll Resigns Amid Tensions With Defense Chief Pete Hegseth

U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to the White House, following months of reported tensions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to a source cited by Reuters. The White House later confirmed that Driscoll was stepping down. 

The resignation comes as the United States remains engaged in its war with Iran, with thousands of U.S. Army personnel deployed across the Middle East, adding significance to the leadership change. 

According to the Reuters source, Driscoll had raised concerns with the administration over Army transformation and military readiness. He reportedly believed that Hegseth was obstructing modernization efforts by removing senior generals involved in those initiatives.

Driscoll, who was considered close to Vice President JD Vance, had reportedly faced growing friction with Hegseth over the direction of the Army and its leadership. The dispute comes amid broader changes and turnover among senior Pentagon officials. 

The White House praised Driscoll's performance, saying he had been highly effective in advancing President Donald Trump's agenda at the Department of the Army. �
