Iran Speaker: ‘Islamabad MOU Is a Declaration of US Defeat’.

Baku, June 25, 2026:-Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Wednesday that the Islamabad memorandum of understanding with Washington has turned into *“a declaration of US defeat.”

 Remarks at Muslim States’ Parliament Meet.

Speaking in Baku, Azerbaijan, during a meeting of parliaments from Muslim-majority states, Ghalibaf said: “The Islamabad memorandum of understanding became a declaration of the US defeat.”

Dialogue Only Works Without Coercion.

Ghalibaf argued the agreement proved dialogue could succeed “only when the other side stopped trying to impose its will and accepted Iran’s rights.” 

He framed the outcome as a shift in Washington’s approach, saying the US had to acknowledge Tehran’s position rather than dictate terms.

 ‘Result of Resistance, Not Pressure’.

The speaker stressed that the MOU “was not the result of pressure or coercion, but of what he called resistance and power.”

Ghalibaf portrayed the accord as validation of Iran’s strategy of steadfastness in negotiations with the US.

The Islamabad MOU refers to recent US-Iran diplomatic understandings brokered in Pakistan. Details of the agreement have not been officially released, but Iranian officials have described it as covering regional security and sanctions relief.

The Baku meeting brought together parliamentary leaders from Muslim-majority countries to discuss regional cooperation and the Palestinian issue.
