Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Alert: IMD Issues Seven-Day Weather Warning Across Several States
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a seven-day weather forecast warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of India from September 2 to 8, as monsoon activity remains vigorous over parts of central, eastern and northern India.
According to the latest forecasts, eastern and central India are likely to remain among the main areas affected by intense rainfall. Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and parts of Uttar Pradesh are among the regions facing periods of heavy rainfall, while isolated areas could experience very heavy downpours.
The northeastern states are also expected to witness widespread rainfall, with Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura likely to receive heavy rain at isolated locations.
In the northern and Himalayan regions, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Jammu and Kashmir are also expected to experience spells of heavy rain. Authorities have urged residents to remain alert in vulnerable areas, particularly where there is a risk of flooding, landslides and disruption to road connectivity.
Meanwhile, the IMD's latest outlook indicates that rainfall activity is expected to remain comparatively subdued over peninsular India during the coming week, highlighting a marked regional contrast in monsoon conditions.
