Community Must Unite to Protect Waqf Properties, Says Allama Bunai Hasni

Conference on ‘Save Waqf and Education Awareness’; Press Conference Held at Asif Manzil in Panchakki

All sections of society must come together to protect, preserve and ensure the proper use of Waqf properties for the welfare of the community, said All India Ulama Board National Secretary Allama Bunai Hasni. He said Waqf is a valuable community asset and protecting it is not the responsibility of any individual or organisation alone, but a collective responsibility of the entire society.

A press conference was organised on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the office of All India Ulama Board Waqf Wing Maharashtra president Sheikh Asif Mehboob at Asif Manzil in the Panchakki area, in connection with a conference being organised by the All India Ulama Board on the important theme ‘Save Waqf and Education Awareness’.

The press conference was attended by All India Ulama Board National President Maulana Naushad Ahmed Siddiqui, National Secretary Allama Bunai Hasni, Mutawalli Wing National President Haji Suhail Patel, Advocate Fatema Saheba, Luqman Ahmed Qadri, Mahevish Khan, Shakeela Pathan and Roohina Syed, along with ulema, office-bearers and social workers from Nagpur, Mumbai, Delhi and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Allama Bunai Hasni said Waqf properties are extremely important assets for the development of society. If utilised properly and transparently, they can provide a strong foundation for initiatives in education, healthcare and social development, as well as programmes for the upliftment of economically weaker and needy sections of society.

He stressed the need to create widespread awareness about Waqf properties and said organised efforts at both the legal and social levels were necessary to protect Waqf lands and other assets. He also appealed to every member of society to recognise their responsibility towards protecting Waqf properties and actively participate in the effort.

He further said education must be given the highest priority for the overall progress of society. In the present era, merely discussing problems is not enough; ulema, intellectuals, social workers, educationists and young people must come together and take concrete steps towards finding solutions, he said.

The dignitaries present at the press conference also stressed the need for a broad awareness campaign to protect Waqf properties and bring young people into the stream of quality and modern education. They called for collective cooperation from all sections of society to promote educational, social and public-welfare initiatives through Waqf institutions.

The press conference was also attended by Maharashtra state president Maulana Syed Naushad Ali Qasmi, Maharashtra general secretary Mufti Syed Shafiuddin Qasmi, patron Maulana Sabit Ali Naqshbandi, Maulana Mahfooz-ul-Rehman Qasmi, Maulana Shah Amanullah Nadvi, Maulana Abrar Kashifi and other ulema and dignitaries.

On the occasion, All India Ulama Board Waqf Wing Maharashtra president Sheikh Asif Mehboob said the ‘Save Waqf and Education Awareness’ initiative would create widespread awareness about the protection of Waqf properties. Various programmes would also be conducted to communicate the importance of education more effectively to the community, he said.

Sheikh Asif Mehboob appealed to ulema, social organisations, intellectuals, youth and all sections of society to actively participate in the campaign and help make the initiative successful.

The press conference was coordinated by Sheikh Asif Mehboob. Luqman Ahmed Qadri, Syed Shahabuddin Qadri, Syed Hussain, Sheikh Altaf Aslam and Syed Azim Noor made special efforts in planning and coordinating the programme. Ashraf Pathan, along with office-bearers of the All India Ulama Board, ulema, social workers and a large number of citizens, were also present.

The dignitaries at the press conference emphasised that protecting Waqf properties and promoting education are crucial responsibilities for building a brighter future for the community, and that society needs to work together in a united and organised manner on both issues.
