Disabled employee beaten up on the road; Warning of indefinite strike if action is not taken within two days

The Joint Action Committee of NFPE, FNPO and BDKS has submitted a representation to the Police Commissioner demanding a fair and thorough investigation into the incident of assaulting postal workers at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Postal Department and strict action against the accused.

The statement alleges that on September 5, 2026, at 6:30 pm, a postal employee was blocked from his way home from the office and abused, pushed and beaten. Notably, one of the employees involved in the attack is a disabled person with no legs and it has been demanded that action be taken as per the applicable provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and the BNS.

According to the organization, the concerned employees were threatened with death about two months ago. A written complaint was also filed in this regard on July 13, 2026. It has been demanded to investigate what action was taken on this complaint and whether the earlier threat was related to the September 5 attack.

The statement also alleges that two women working as daily wage workers at the post office had argued with the employees, abused them, threatened them and made a video recording on their mobile phones before the attack. It has been stated that the relatives or colleagues of the women concerned then stopped the employees on the road and beat them up.

It has been demanded that CCTV footage, mobile recordings and other digital evidence in this entire case be preserved and examined, and that an investigation be conducted to determine whether the attack was pre-planned, who informed the attackers about the employees' movements, and who was directly or indirectly involved in this case.

It has also been alleged that despite attempts to file a complaint at the City Chowk police station regarding the postmasters obstructing government work, it was not accepted, and the organization has demanded an independent investigation into the incident.

The Joint Action Committee has warned that if appropriate legal action is not taken within two days, an indefinite work stoppage will be launched by all organizations in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Postal Division.
