US-Iran Tensions Escalate as CENTCOM Strikes IRGC Sites
US Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran, Targets IRGC Sites
The United States has launched fresh strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes were carried out in response to recent attempted attacks by the IRGC on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against US service members deployed in the region.
Iranian state media reported that several explosions were heard in the eastern part of Bandar Abbas, a strategically important port city in southern Iran.
The latest US military action marks another escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global maritime trade and energy shipments.
