'We Will Strike First If Threatened': Iran Warns Of Preemptive Strike Against Enemies
Tehran:In a sharp escalation of rhetoric, Iran has warned that it could launch a preemptive military strike if it perceives a threat from its enemies.
Speaking to Iran's Fars News Agency on Wednesday, Iranian Army spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami-Nia said Iran's armed forces had learned lessons from the recent conflict and had significantly strengthened their military readiness and their ability to identify potential vulnerabilities of adversaries.
The general said that if circumstances require it to prevent aggression or an intrusion, Iran would not necessarily wait for an attack. He described any potential future operation as "more crushing, broader, more decisive, and faster."
Akrami-Nia also claimed that the Iranian Army currently has a substantial stockpile of military equipment and is fully prepared in terms of operational capabilities.
His remarks come amid continuing high tensions between Iran and the United States and the wider regional conflict in the Middle East.
The warning follows other recent statements from senior Iranian military officials. On October 5, Major General Ali Abdollahi had warned that a new war against Iran could have consequences across the entire region.
