GORAKHPUR, UTTAR PRADESH:* Around 450 people in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur have received anti-rabies shots after drinking charanamrit made from the milk of a cow that was allegedly bitten by a stray dog and later died.
The incident took place in Dadi Khas village under Gola block, where devotees drank the charanamrit during a Durga Puja celebration. Panic spread after villagers learned that the cow had been bitten by a dog and had later shown unusual behaviour before dying.
Health officials have started a vaccination and monitoring drive in the village to ensure all those who consumed the charanamrit are protected.
