Washington, June 13, 2026: In a development that could mark a turning point in the Middle East crisis, US President Donald Trump has hinted at a major announcement regarding the end of the conflict with Iran, expected within the next 24 hours.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump said Washington is expecting a response from Iran “by tonight” on the latest American proposal aimed at ending the spiraling conflict. “We’ll see… Some pretty good news can come,” he said, signaling a potentially critical moment in high-stakes negotiations. ffff

The remarks come after Trump announced a two-week ceasefire and a five-day pause on planned strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, following what he called “very good and productive” talks over the past two days. 

Iran’s state TV acknowledged the truce but warned, “Our hands remain on the trigger, and should the slightest error be committed by the enemy, it will be met with full force.” Tehran said it would only accept a complete end to hostilities once the principles outlined in its 10-point plan are accepted through negotiations. 

Strait of Hormuz and Regional Stakes.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran will allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks as both sides prepare for talks in Islamabad. The pause in fighting has already impacted markets, with Brent crude plunging below $100 after Trump’s strike-pause announcement. 

Secretary of State Marco Rubio also indicated that Washington hopes Iran’s response could open the door for “serious negotiations.” 

The conflict, which began on February 28 after US-Israeli strikes killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has seen 40 days of fighting across the region.
