India secured a commanding 165-run victory over Sri Lanka in the first Test at Galle, taking a 1–0 lead in the two-match series. India scored 462 in the first innings and 193 in the second, while Sri Lanka were bowled out for 284 and 206.
The victory was made even more dramatic by the weather. Heavy rain reportedly began at the Galle International Stadium just two minutes after India completed the win, creating a remarkable coincidence after rain had already interrupted play several times during the Test.
Young left-arm spinner Manav Suthar was the star performer, claiming 10 wickets in the match. Devdutt Padikkal also impressed with a superb 167 in India's first innings.
