2,500 Indigenous Saplings Planted Along Sukhna River on World Environment Day; Mayor Urges Citizens to Ensure Survival of Planted Trees.

A large-scale tree plantation drive was conducted with great enthusiasm along the banks of the Sukhna River today on the occasion of World Environment Day. Around 2,500 saplings of Indian species were planted during the event.

Speaking at the program, Mayor Samir Rajurkar said that the objective of environmental conservation will not be achieved merely by planting trees. "Every citizen should plant at least one tree and take responsibility for nurturing it for a year to ensure its survival. Only if trees are cared for and conserved will the plantation drive truly succeed," he said. He appealed to every citizen to pledge to plant one tree and ensure its growth.

MLA Anuradha Chavan was the chief guest at the plantation drive.
