‘Ram and Krishna Are Your Ancestors’: Baba Ramdev’s Message to Indian Muslims

Baba Ramdev Says Indian Muslims Should Recognise Ram, Krishna as Ancestral Heritage

Mathura: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has urged Muslims in India to recognise ancient sages, Lord Ram and Lord Krishna as part of their ancestral heritage, saying that reconnecting with what he described as their roots could strengthen the community and promote Hindu-Muslim unity.

Speaking to IANS, Ramdev said, “I would urge all my Muslim brothers to recognise that our ancient sages are their ancestors too; Lord Ram and Lord Krishna are their ancestors as well.” He added that connecting with these ancestral roots would help Muslims feel stronger.

Ramdev also said that “every Muslim in India is a convert” and argued that Hindus and Muslims living together in unity would strengthen both communities as well as the country. His comments were made in response to remarks by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi concerning political representation of Muslims.

The remarks have prompted further discussion over shared ancestry, religious identity and Hindu-Muslim relations in India. Several Hindu spiritual leaders have subsequently expressed support for Ramdev's statement.

Ramdev has made similar arguments about common ancestry in previous public statements. The claim that all Indian Muslims are descendants of converts is a statement attributed to Ramdev; it should not be presented as an independently established fact.
