Two Dead as Private Gulfstream Jet Crashes, Bursts Into Flames During Emergency Landing in Dominican Republic mechanical fault’; IDAC launches probe.

La Romana, Dominican Republic, June 8, 2026– A pilot and co-pilot were killed Sunday when a private jet crashed and caught fire while attempting an emergency landing at La Romana International Airport.

What Happened.

The Gulfstream G200, registered in the United States, had departed for Austin, Texas. About 16 nautical miles southwest of La Romana, the crew reported a “severe mechanical fault”and turned back to the airport for an emergency landing.

According to initial reports, the aircraft crashed while landing and immediately burst into flames, turning into a fireball. 

Only Crew On Board.

Officials said there were only two crew members on board the plane. Both died in the crash. No passengers were listed.

Investigation Underway.

The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, IDAC, confirmed the incident on X, stating that _“aviation officials have implemented the relevant protocols and are investigating necessary to detect the causes of the incident.

IDAC and the Aviation Accident Investigation Commission said more information will be released as the investigation proceeds.

The names of the deceased crew members have not yet been made public pending notification of next of kin.
