Big Disclosure: Modi-Trump Meet Took Unexpected Turn After Trump Suddenly Invited Questions
PM Modi Was Not Prepared for Trump’s Surprise Move? Big Disclosure on 45-Minute Press Conference
New Delhi: A fresh disclosure by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has sparked discussion over an unexpected turn during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with then-US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
According to Gor, India had requested that the media be allowed to attend the interaction but that reporters should not ask questions. Gor said Trump initially agreed to the arrangement.
However, after Modi and Trump made their opening remarks, Trump suddenly looked towards the cameras and invited questions from journalists. What followed was an unplanned interaction lasting around 45 minutes, with several issues reportedly coming up during the exchange.
The revelation has raised questions about whether the Indian side, including PM Modi, was prepared for Trump’s unexpected decision to open the floor to reporters.
Indian government sources have since said discussions about media arrangements and public appearances during VVIP visits are routine diplomatic practice. They also cited concerns over Trump's unpredictable behaviour as one reason for adopting a cautious approach.
