“Cockroach Janata Party to Enter Politics? Leader Abhijeet Dipke’s ‘Role Model Uncle’ Reveals All”.
What is the Cockroach Janata Party?.
The “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP) is a viral satirical political movement started on May 16, 2026 by 30-year-old Abhijeet Dipke. It was born a day after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s “cockroach” remark during a hearing. Though CJI Kant later clarified his comment was about fake-degree holders in law/media, not unemployed youth, the term sparked massive backlash online.
Dipke, a political communication strategist and Boston University Public Relations master’s student, posted a Google Form on X inviting “cockroaches” to join. Within hours, 5,000+ people registered. By May 19, sign-ups crossed 80,000.
Who is Abhijeet Dipke?
-Background Studied journalism in Pune, then moved to the US for higher studies. Completed a 2-year Master’s in Public Relations at Boston University.
Political experience: Volunteered with AAP’s social media team from 2020-2023. Worked on meme-based digital campaigning during the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections.
Role model ‘uncle: Dipke hasn’t named a specific “uncle” in interviews, but says the CJP is inspired by India Against Corruption 2011, which later became the Aam Aadmi Party. He calls it a youth-driven attempt to influence politics “through peaceful and democratic participation”.
CJP’s Satirical Manifesto & Symbol
The party calls itself the “Voice of the lazy & unemployed”. Its 5-point manifesto promises:
No post-retirement Rajya Sabha seats for Chief Justices.
Arrest election officials under UAPA* if legitimate votes are deleted.
50% reservation for women.
Cancel media licenses owned by influential businessmen.
20-year ban on MLAs/MPs who defect from contesting elections or holding office.
*Proposed election symbol*: A smartphone, reflecting Dipke’s view that “a smartphone and internet connection are enough to express dissent and organise people in today’s India”.
How to Join? Eligibility Criteria
CJP lists humorous criteria:
Unemployed By force, choice or principle
Lazy: Physically, while mentally spiralling
-Chronically online: At least 11 hours a day including bathroom scrolling
Able to rant: Sharply, honestly, and with purpose
Membership via Google Form on X handle @CJP2029 or website. Over 350,000 people have officially signed up.
. As of May 2026, no formal plans to contest elections*. It is not registered with the Election Commission of India and functions purely as an online satirical movement. However, Dipke hinted he may relocate to Delhi to decide next steps.
. Political Reactions.
TMC MPs Mahua Moitra and Kirti Azad, social activist Anjali Bhardwaj, and former IAS officer Ashish Joshi have engaged with CJP’s content, though none are formal endorsements.
Bottom line; CJP started as a joke but resonated with youth frustrated by unemployment and lack of political representation. Dipke says: “From the response, we have proof that the youth of the country are frustrated that they have no place in Indian politics”.
