UAE Deputy PM Visits Captain Smit Machchhar, Praises Indian Pilot’s Courage
Dubai: UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar and praised him for his courage following the recent Flydubai flight incident.
During the meeting, Al Maktoum said Machchhar had “embodied high degrees of courage” and conveyed the UAE leadership’s appreciation for the Indian pilot.
The UAE Deputy Prime Minister also described Machchhar as an important part of the team, saying, “We are proud that he is part of our team.”
Machchhar was the pilot of a Flydubai flight that made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after an incident involving the cockpit. Reports said the pilot and crew members acted to regain control of the aircraft and ensure the safety of passengers.
The recognition from the UAE leadership comes amid widespread appreciation for Machchhar’s conduct during the incident. His actions have also drawn attention in India, where he has been praised for his bravery and commitment to passenger safety.
