‘Life Changes in Minutes’: Amitabh Bachchan Reflects on KBC Contestants Rebuilding Their Lives

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has reflected on his experience hosting the 18th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), saying the show has given him an opportunity to witness contestants transform their lives through knowledge, determination and their winnings.

Writing on his blog, Bachchan said the contestants and the audience are what truly make KBC special. He highlighted the emotional journeys of people from modest backgrounds who appear on the show with dreams of building better lives.

According to Bachchan, the joy and tears of contestants when they achieve their goals are among the most moving aspects of the programme. He observed that a person’s life can sometimes change “in a few hours” and, on certain occasions, “in minutes.”

The veteran actor also wished contestants success, hoping they would continue to benefit from their knowledge and experiences.

KBC Season 18 premiered on August 10, with Bachchan returning as host. He has hosted the show in all seasons except the third, when Shah Rukh Khan took over as presenter.

One recent example of KBC’s life-changing impact is Mumbai contestant Ruchita Adhalrao, who won ₹50 lakh. She had spoken about her financial difficulties, including studying through lessons downloaded using public Wi-Fi, and said the prize could help her family achieve its dream of owning a permanent home.
