"Indian Embassy in Muscat Shelters Hyderabad Woman, Working on Her Safe Return to India".
Hyderabad/Muscat:A woman from Hyderabad has sought urgent help from the Indian Embassy in Muscat after alleging severe exploitation while working as a housemaid in Oman.
Allegations:
The woman claimed she was promised a housemaid’s job in Oman but was instead forced to work up to 15 hours a day. She alleged she was denied proper food and accommodation, went unpaid for several months, and faced physical abuse before she managed to escape.
Embassy Response:
The Embassy of India in Muscat confirmed that the woman is currently staying at its shelter and is receiving necessary assistance.
The Embassy added that efforts are underway to facilitate her safe return to India. The matter has also been taken up with the relevant Omani authorities for further action.
Cases of Indian workers facing exploitation in Gulf countries have been reported earlier. The Embassy has urged citizens to verify job offers and recruitment agents before traveling abroad.
