Turkey Ready To Begin Power Exports To Iran, All Contracts Finalized
Iran plans to import 450 megawatts of electricity from Turkey to meet the energy needs of its petrochemical industry, Deputy Energy Minister Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi said on Sunday.Speaking to state media, Rajabi Mashhadi said that all arrangements for the imports have been completed and that Turkey is ready to begin transferring electricity to Iran.
According to him, the contracts for the imports have already been prepared. The next step now lies with the petrochemical companies, which must take the necessary measures to receive the power.The deputy minister added that Iran already imports about 500 megawatts of electricity annually from Turkmenistan and Armenia.With the new deal with Turkey, Iran’s total electricity imports from its neighbors would rise to 950 MW, aimed at easing pressure on domestic supply and supporting energy-intensive industries like petrochemicals.No timeline was given for when the Turkish power transfers would officially begin.
