Moscow Hit by Largest-Ever Drone Barrage as Ukraine Sends 1,000+ Drones

Ukraine Launches Massive Drone Barrage on Russia, Over 1,000 Drones Reportedly Used; 2 Killed

Ukraine launched a massive wave of drone attacks against Russia, with officials reporting that more than 1,000 drones were sent toward Russian territory. Hundreds were reportedly directed at Moscow in what the city's mayor described as the largest-ever drone attack on the Russian capital.

Russian authorities said their air-defence systems intercepted or shot down more than 1,600 drones since Saturday, including around 450 heading toward Moscow. The figures released by Russian officials cover a wider period and territory than the reported overnight barrage.

The attacks killed at least two people in the Moscow region, according to Russian authorities. Several residential buildings were damaged, and around 400 residents, including 70 children, were evacuated from an apartment building in the Ramenskoye district.

A major oil refinery in Moscow was also damaged after several drones reached the facility. Smoke was seen rising from the refinery, while a residential building was also hit. Authorities said there were no reported casualties in Moscow city itself.

The attack came on the final day of Russia's parliamentary elections. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin accused Ukraine of attempting to disrupt the voting, while Ukrainian authorities had not immediately commented on the attacks. Both sides have continued carrying out strikes against each other's energy infrastructure despite recent claims of an agreement to halt such attacks.
