PM Modi Holds Key Talks With Iranian President Amid Escalating West Asia Conflict

PM Modi Meets Iranian President Pezeshkian at SCO Summit in Bishkek

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. 

The two leaders discussed India-Iran bilateral relations as well as recent developments in the West Asia conflict. They exchanged views on the rapidly evolving regional situation amid heightened tension.

Prime Minister Modi expressed concern over the escalation of tensions in West Asia and reiterated India's consistent position that outstanding issues should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He also reaffirmed India's support for efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region. 

The meeting assumes significance as India continues to engage with key regional partners amid the ongoing conflict and its potential implications for regional stability, energy security and trade.
