The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for multiple states across the country, effective for the next 5 days. The pre-monsoon season is bringing unstable weather conditions, with scattered rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds expected in various regions .

Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan may experience light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.

Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala are likely to see isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

 Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya may witness scattered heavy rainfall and thunderstorms .

 Temperatures are expected to remain normal to below normal in many parts, with occasional heatwaves in coastal regions.

Humidity levels will be high, making the weather feel warm and humid between rain spells.

The IMD has warned of lightning, strong winds, and possible travel disruptions 

Skymet Weather Services predicts a below-normal monsoon rainfall in 2026, with El Niño posing a significant threat to agricultural production and food security .
